For those of us drawn to helping—whether through our work, our relationships, or simply the way we move through the world—there is a quiet, powerful archetype that lives within us: the healer.
This part of us is intuitive, nurturing, and deeply attuned to the needs of others. We hold space. We offer care. We see potential and offer hope. It’s a beautiful gift.
But even the brightest light can cast a shadow.
The shadow side of the healer often shows up quietly:
In the moments we say yes when we mean no
When we hold back our truth to keep the peace
When our own needs keep slipping to the bottom of the list.
Over time, this can lead to burnout, resentment, and even chronic health concerns.
This is not a conscious pattern until it becomes conscious - usually once we seek therapy, coaching or holistic medical care.
The Invitation: A Gentle Return to Balance
If this speaks to you, you’re not alone. And there’s nothing wrong with being a natural giver—it’s a strength.
But that strength becomes sustainable only when paired with honest boundaries and compassionate self-honoring.
Try this simple reflection:
Think of a recent moment when you felt drained, frustrated, or resentful after an interaction. Ask yourself:
- Did I say what I really meant?
- Was I honest about my limits or needs?
- Did I take on something that wasn't mine to carry?
If the answer is no, try this reframe:
“It’s okay if someone is disappointed by my truth. Their feelings are not my responsibility.”
This isn’t about being cold or uncaring—it’s about trusting that honesty is an act of love, too.
As I work through my patterns, my goal is to be my own balanced healer, and to support you to do the same. One that gives lovingly, and speaks clearly. One that serves others, and honors herself.
I know this version of me, and you, will experience less illness and more joy.
I hope you’ll join me in exploring that path!
Yours, Bridgit Danner
